We offer to combine a hike with snowshoes/bogshoes with a visit to the Gauja National Park. We will provide transport and a guide throughout the day to see natural and cultural objects as well as military hair.
Main attractions:
- Bogshoeing. The nature of the Suda bog (Suda-Swedish Marsh) is untouched and wild. Legend has it that a chest of money sank in one of the deepest lakes. During the Swedish war, a bridge was built over this lake, over which all the troops crossed. If you are lucky, you will be able to hear cranes in the distance, which are especially numerous in this marsh. The route leads through protected natural areas, is not marked in nature and is not intended for walking without a guide.
- Bunker – Soviet time secret facility with a cover name “Vacation Hotel”. In the territory of the rehabilitation center Līgatne, 9 m underground, there is a well-equipped facility with a total area of 2,000 sq.m, whose secrecy grading was removed only in 2003. Bunker was built fot the needs of political and state authority elite of the 1980s for state administration in case of nuclear war.
- Līgatne paper factory village with old terraced houses, mills, sandstone cliffs and countless caves where local residents stored vegetables and other products during the winter. There are several restaurants and pubs here, including the Michelin-starred “Pavaru māja”, sure to find something to suit your taste.

What is included in the price?
- Guides: Expert, English-speaking guide.
- Equipment: Bogshoes/snowshoes and rubber boots.
- Transfer from Riga to Gauja National Park, between sightseeing spots and back.
- Entrance tickets for a guided visit to the bunker.
Souvenirs and meals are not included in the price.
Meeting place and day plan:
Departure is at 8:00 in the morning from the center of Riga.. Gauja National Park is a 1-hour drive away. 2 hours are planned for hiking with swamp shoes, 1 hour for viewing the bunker and about 2-3 hours for a leisurely tour of the old town of Līgatne and a meal in one of the restaurants. We will be back in Riga around 18:00.

How to prepare?
- Bring snacks and a warming drink or water on a hot day, swimming trunks and a towel if you are ready for swimming.
- Put on comfortable, light and sporty clothes. Avoid jeans, because they stay wet when you sweat or get wet.
- We recommend wearing long and thick sports socks.
- You can wear your hiking shoes or use our rubber boots.
