Overview
Lauga bog is located near Birini. During the hike you will be able to see the world of moss, small pine trees, bog river, tiny dark lakes and smell wild rosemary. The astute visitor will notice the carnivorous plant of sundew, and a variety of birds – wood sandpipers, white wagtails, tree pipits, and also hear cranes further away. The developed part of the bog has a large cranberry farm – one of the first artificial cranberry farms in Latvia.
The trail is not marked in nature and is not intended for walking without a “Bog-shoeing” guide.
Trekking boots with waterproof membrane or rubber boots are required.

Moderate hiking is usually suitable for beginners who want a little challenge. There will be some obstacles in the area, such as fallen trees or wrecks. The route is usually 4-7 km long. Suitable for older people with active lifestyle and children aged 8-10 years.

Bog shoeing trip can be varied with the length of the route and the duration of the hike from 3 hours up to the whole day.

You should wear comfortable clothes and footwear. Take swimwear and camera with you. And don`t forget high spirits!
