Overview
Kangari bog is located near the Great Kangari hills, that is one of the most impressive and extensive natural structures of its kind in Latvia in terms of appearance and landscape. The ice age left behind this wall-like terrain, which is up to 27 metres high and at the top of which the Rīga-Ērgļi road has been built. The Ķoderi castle hill, also known as the “Big Man’s Bed” is found here. During the hike you will be able to see the world of moss, small pine trees and tiny dark lakes. If you are lucky, you will hear cranes further away and, if you look closely, you will see the the carnivorous plant of sundew. Great place to try a swim in one of the pools.
The trail is not marked in nature and is not intended for walking without a “Bog-shoeing” guide.
Trekking boots with waterproof membrane or rubber boots are required.
